This one is great for preparing a day in advance and re-heating. The flavors really incorporate when you do this.

Instructions
  1. In a medium pot, melt the butter on medium-high heat. Add the garlic, onions, and mushrooms with a pinch of salt and pepper, and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until onions are translucent.
  2. Then lower heat to medium and add the flour and stir. Let the flour begin to clump and thicken in the butter for about a minute more.
  3. Add the Marsala wine, water, 1 tsp salt, and stir to incorporate everything.
  4. Raise heat to medium-high and bring to a slow boil to thicken. Once it starts to boil, take off heat and stir until it thickens. Set aside and let cool for about ten minutes. Once cooled, add Dijon mustard and stir to incorporate. (NOTE: mustard may clump at first)
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Crumple the bread and place it in a bowl with the green beans. Add the sauce and let the bread soak in the sauce for about 5 minutes. Once bread is soaked, stir to incorporate everything. Place the mixture in a greased baking tray, sprinkle the top with french fried onions and bake for 35 minutes.
  7. Take out of oven and Let cool for about 10 minutes and serve or you can refrigerate overnight and re-heat before dinner.
